Monkey Party

Logan had a fantastic first birthday party. We decided to go with a monkey theme for our little monkey. It was perfect weather with perfect company! Enjoy the many pictures!
The birthday boy!
I posted a few pictures of the decor. This was the gift table. The little cards were for guests to write down a birthday wish or favorite memory of the birthday boy.

I made a watch-me-grow banner with monthly pictures of Logan over the past year.

Centerpieces for the tables. The monkey and banana are little banks.

Happy birthday banner (the wind was blowing a bit).

Our delicious spread of food.

I call this the monkey tower. They had monkeys and Runt bananas on top. I thought they turned out really cute.

Our lovely guests: grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends!

Proud parents. Can you also tell I'm a little tired? Hosting a party is hard work!

Benj's two good friends. Don't their poses make them look like they're little boys?

A cute picture of Logan with his cousin

One of my favorite pictures of the day: Logan playing with his friends. Thats when he was the most happy!

I had no idea how Logan would handle the whole birthday cake thing. He didn't want to go back in his high chair so he cried during the whole "Happy Birthday" song. Once I gave him the cupcake, he dipped his fingers in the frosting for a little bit. He tasted the frosting, but became very concerned with the stuff on his fingers. He'd open and close his hands - I don't think he liked the stickiness.

I didn't get too good a picture, but we got a great video. I still have trouble loading videos on here, but maybe my hubby can figure it out.
He had a very concerned look on his face the whole time. He got about halfway done before he'd had it. A short time later he threw it all up (sorry Ashley). Guess it was too much sugar for that little tummy.

He was in much better spirits when we opened all of his great presents.

Checking out some of his stash.

Love this smile. Benj's first comment was, "Look at that perfect grasp." Future football player?
A little play time with daddy
It was a lot of fun. We made lots of good memories. Happy Birthday Logan!

Special Shoutout

I dedicate this post to the love of my life, who celebrated his birthday on the 18th. He was worried that all the attention would be on Logan and thought his birthday would be forgotten. Hopefully he feels like he had his special day too. Its hard to share the one day out of the year that is yours. He was very patient as I spent hours fussing over monkey invitations and cupcakes, and never once complained.

I picked Benji up on Friday from work, a surprise that couldn't have been carried out if it hadn't been for his awesome coworkers. We went to lunch and shopped JUST FOR HIM (that's big). I surprised him with an hour professional massage, dinner at Benihanas and a movie (Date Night). We were trying to remember the last time it had been just the two of us on a dinner/movie date. We couldn't remember it had been that long. It was SO much fun. Honestly one of the best days I've ever had. Benj, I love you and I'm so so thankful to be married to you. You are the best man I have ever known. Thanks for being my best friend. I hope we can have many many more date nights . . . just the two of us.

Happy Birthday sweetheart.

1 Year Older

I get emails from BabyCenter every week saying "your baby is 3 months old, etc". Now it has changed to "your toddler is 1 year old." I just can't say that my BABY is now a TODDLER. I don't think they should be called toddlers til age 2. Even when Logan is grown up and married and has his own children, he'll always be my baby. Wow, typing that really puts life in perspective. I'm totally going to be the mom who cries when her kids reach kindergarten.
It is amazing how fast time goes by. Has it really been a year since I held you in my arms in the hospital? I remember hearing you cry and motherly instincts immediately took over. I felt bonded to you before you were born. I got to know you when you were still in mommy's tummy. I knew you'd be active. I knew you'd be healthy. I am so thankful that Heavenly Father allowed me to be your mom.

Logan, each day you remind me how precious life is. You have such a happy, joyful demeanor and you light up the room. I cannot stay mad at you for more than a second (that might be bad when you get older). You instantly melt my heart with your smile. You make every diaper change, late-night feeding, temper tantrum worth it. I've never been so tired and sleep-deprived, but I've never been so happy.

I LOVE watching you and your daddy. You guys have a special relationship and seem to be best buddies. Its so cute how you squeal and jump when you see Daddy come home. You two are already wrestling on the floor. You love to play and since your dad is a little boy at heart, you laugh the hardest and have the most fun when he's around.

So, as done every month, here is what Logan at ONE YEAR OLD.

1 YEAR APPOINTMENT:

Weight: 21 lbs 1 oz (35%)

Height: 30 inches (65%)

Did not enjoy the shots in the thigh. Had a good fever for a few days following. I'm amazed how happy Logan is even when he's not feeling good.

LEARNED:

-how to kick/swim in the water. It is absolutely the cutest thing ever and I laugh every time he does it. Not a huge fan of going under water but we're working on that. We're doing a mom and tot swimming class twice a week and we both LOVE it.

-how to take his first steps! I think the most we've seen is 3 steps in a row. He usually does it from a couch to mommy's arms. Still prefers crawling probably because he's so darn fast at it!

-that sitting in sacrament meeting for a whole hour is way too long. He does not like to be on the floor and is constantly trying to climb over mommy and daddy's laps. Loves to squeal at anyone he makes eye contact with. He's only content with Cheerios for so long.

-that ice cream is really, really good, once you get over the cold part.
-how to say a few words: mama, dada, book, duck
-how to climb up on the couch
ENJOYS:
-playing with friends and cousins
-eating anything that mommy is eating
-watching and reading about animals
-"talking" with other kids, meaning he usually yells/echos back at them
-going for walks and drives and looking around
-his new bath toys (thanks Grandma and Grandpa)
-inspecting every object he gets his hands on. His favorites include anything on the bathroom counter, mommy's cell phone, and tupperware bowls and kitchen gadgets
-favorite game: pull everthing out of drawers, baskets, off the couch, you name it. He's even tried getting into the garbage (gross).
-watching his movies
DISLIKES:
-getting his fingernails clipped
-getting things taken away from him
-eating in his high chair when tired
-being held when he wants to crawl around
-wearing any kind of shoes. HATES them.
Happy Happy Birthday Lo-Lo Bear. Love you!

One Year Pictures

I think Logan's pictures turned out great! We loved our photographer!
Help me out guys. I want to get a large one printed. Which one should I go with?

I think the first and the last ones are my favorite.

Easter Weekend

Easter was a little different this year because of Conference. There hasn't been many conferences that have been on the same weekend. It was really nice. We had a wonderful weekend. Logan had a little bit of a cold so that was the only downer, but he was happy anyway.
The Easter bunny didn't make us hunt for anything this year. Maybe because of the bad weather. :) Logan's eggs were filled with Teddy Grahams. The Bradshaw Family always gets together for Easter brunch. This is the group this year. A year ago I was VERY pregnant. Its amazing what a year can do!

Mommy and Logan

With Daddy
Logan met the Easter Bunny! I wasn't sure how Logan would react but he really liked her. He was really interested in her "paws" and even tried to grab her ears.
I ruined the picture (Logan was grabbing my hair, the stinker). I thought the other three were cute though

Hope you all had a great weekend!
