Family Portraits

My friend Savanah took some family pictures for us a couple weeks ago. I think she did an amazing job. What do you think?

Wheeler Farm

Last Thursday we decided to go to Wheeler Farm to pick out some pumpkins. We didn't have much daylight since we went after Benj got home from work, so I didn't get many pictures. Wheeler Farm has a lot of great animals for the kids to look at, a fun little wagon ride, a kiddie-size corn maze and a pumpkin "patch". I think Logan had a good time, but we were disappointed that the pumpkin patch consisted of already picked pumpkins placed in a lot about the size of a 2-car garage. We've heard of great spots from other friends, so we'll have to remember them for next year. We were also glad that the weather was still decent.

You're HOW Old?

Hi! It's Logan. I'm 18 months old!
18 Things About Logan
1 - I am 23 lbs 13 oz (25%) and 33 inches tall (75%). The best and only thing I liked at the doctors were the dum-dum suckers. I DO NOT like to get poked.
2 - My favorite place to be is outside, particularly the playground. I can ALMOST turn the doorknob open.
3 - Speaking of playground, I am SO brave. I go down slides by myself now and I am not afraid to climb!
4 - My favorite foods at the moment are: apple juice, dried bananas and strawberries, Lucky Charms (mostly the marshmellows), watermelon, mashed potatoes, and chicken. I am starting to get a little more picky.
5 - I take one 3 hour nap a day. I like to give Mommy a break.
6 - I like to help in the kitchen whenever Mommy is emptying/loading the dishwasher or getting into the fridge. Sometimes she needs help throwing all the stuff in the cupboards on the floor.

7 - I don't like to hear the word no. Unfortunately Mommy says it a lot.
8 - I still love books. I could read for hours. The library is one of my favorite places.
9 - Some of my new favorite shows are Curious George, Super Why and Sid the Science Kid.
10 - I love my blankie and I love to snuggle with Mommy. I am not ashamed to say I'm a momma's boy.
11 - I don't talk much, but I understand almost everything Mommy and Daddy say.
12 - I love to get in the bathroom and unroll the toilet paper. I also managed to pull out all the Kleenex's out of the box.13 - I'm very good at puzzles and blocks.
14 - I point at my eyes, ears, nose, mouth, head, and belly button when asked.
15 - I know many animals and objects and point to them in my books when asked.
16 - I love to draw with crayons.
17 - I love to give kisses and high fives.
18 - I am a kinda shy but very happy toddler.

HAPPY 18 MONTHS LOGAN. WE LOVE YOU!

Can it be?

Logan just days old . . .
Can it be that I'm actually DONE nursing? Yes folks, I nursed for 17 1/2 months. Initially I thought I'd nurse Logan for a year, but when the time came, he had NO INTEREST in slowing down. I think I've dragged on the weaning process too because, well, it was a pleasant experience (I know, I'm lucky) and Logan is my baby and it's a little hard to see him grow. I think I could use a little break before the next kid anyway. :)

Yellowstone

Do you have a place that you visited often growing up (besides relatives houses)? My place is Yellowstone National Park. I've been there many times and I never get sick of it. It is so beautiful and incredible! This was the first time we'd been back since Benj and I were dating back in 2005.
Angel's Landing
THE BISON STORY
We got there right around lunchtime and stopped at a campground to set up lunch. We let Logan run around in the dirt and explore a little bit, making sure he stayed pretty close to the table. My mom and I decided to try to "team up" and get him to sit for two seconds while we tried to feed him. As my mom was holding him, she looked up and gasped, "Oh my!". I look up to see a 2,000 lb BISON literally 5 YARDS away from our table. They tell you to stay 25 yards away for safety. It was minding its own business and casually walked right by, not even glancing at us. I swooped up Logan from my mom and walked a little distance away from it. Motherly instincts kicked in and all I wanted to do was protect Logan. Dad said to not startle it, and luckily it wasn't agressive. Boy, did it give us a scare. We didn't get a picture of it because we were frozen with fear, but here is a picture of Benj and Logan at the table. The bison walked right through that clearing behind them. Here are a few bison we saw right by the road. My family all agrees that the one at the campground was bigger than any of these.
Anyway, it was a great trip and we all really enjoyed the beautiful scenery.

Grandpa and Logan

Ah, he is so cute.
So is he. He takes after his dad. :)

Old Faithful never dissappoints. Can you see the rainbow?
I highly recommend going to Yellowstone this time of year!
