October Instagram

Row 1: The Halloween countdown begins, Halloween shirts, date night to see Jim Gaffigan, sugar cookies
Row 2: Full cart, Scary Hill, Max loves the ball pit, gorgeous fall day
Row 3: I love Park City, cute siblings, fall colors, "mummy" lunch
Row 4: tongue tattoo, Halloween happy meals, crazy hair day, jumping in the leaves

The kids also made some cute Halloween crafts to hang on the windows.

Tractor ride at Scary Hill (note: do not take sensitive kids into scary mazes - it does not go over well!)
The Spooktacular Safari at the zoo! I loved the train ride, the kids loved the carousel (of course).
All three out before trick-or-treating even began!

Our family pumpkins!
 Trick or treat!

Halloween!

Halloween was so fun this year because the kids were so into it! We made a countdown chain and did a fall /Halloween activity everyday. That definitely made the kids excited for the end - trick or treating! Of course they were the cutest kids dressed as a pumpkin, spider and Ironman!

Logan, at first, wanted to be Captain America (like he was last year) but figured out that he could be a different superhero instead. He really liked getting into character:

This picture cracks me up. I've never seen Ironman sit like that.

 Muscles!

I asked Norah a while back what she wanted to be, and she immediately told me "a punkin!". I loved her choice and thought she made the perfect pumpkin!

And little Max was a spider! Yay for cute hand-me-down costumes! Lucky for me, he doesn't have much of an opinion yet.

Logan had a lot of fun dressing up for school and walking through the parade. I helped out in his classroom and we made cute spider suckers and pumpkin bracelets. He also made spooky cupcakes, played Bingo and ghost bowling! Lucky kid!

Halloween is really fun in our neighborhood. We gave out 4+ bags of candy and the kids had a ball.

Happy Halloween!

Black Island Farms

One of the highlights of the month was visiting Black Island Farms to have some Halloween fun and pick pumpkins!

It was such a fun activity and Logan and Norah were especially in heaven. Here are some of the things we did:

the corn maze (we went through a lot of "shortcuts")
The view from the bridge in the middle of the maze. I reaffirmed my fear of heights.

Took a little tractor ride through the fields.

Tried out the jumbo slides. Benj just let Norah go on her own the first time and I about had a heart attack! She loved it though and kept going again and again.

Logan loved it too!

Max and I went on the smaller version. :)

After a loooong wait in line, we got to go on a tractor ride to pick our pumpkins!

We left right around sunset.

This was one of my favorite places to get pumpkins. I hope to make it a tradition every year!

Fall Break at Bear Lake

Now that we have a kid in school, it's harder to just pack up and leave whenever we want. Logan had a few days off in the middle of October so we decided, along with Benj's side of the family, to take a little trip to Bear Lake for fall break.

These are all phone photos (I forgot my nice camera). It was too cold to do any water activities, but gosh, we sure enjoyed the views. I love that blue water.

All 11 of us stayed in the same condo, a place called the Garden City Resort in Bear Lake. We had all 5 of  us in one room. The first night was rough because Norah woke up at 11 (when Benj and I came in) and she didn't fall asleep for 2 hours. Too excited sleeping in the same bed with Mommy. Max woke up a couple times after that. Luckily we had better sleep the next 3 nights. The resort had great beach access, a playground, swimming pool, tennis courts and even mini golf. It was a lot of fun!

We loved exploring the beach.

Playing with cousins. Max took his first real steps at the condo and has been walking more and more ever since. Although in the photo below he was teaching his older cousins a thing or two about crawling.

Dining at Coopers and enjoying the amazing view of the lake.

The whole group (minus Max sleeping)

One of our favorite activities was renting a 5-seater bike and riding around town. We managed to find some chocolate-covered raspberries along the way. I think Max enjoyed himself more than anyone else! Logan was concerned about being in the lead (everything is a race to him), Norah was done about halfway through, but the chocolate seemed to lift her spirits. Benj and I started the way back from the candy store with our brake on and about passed out from exhaustion! Ha!

We enjoyed good food, games, and conversation. We're glad we got to spend some quality time with family and hope we can make this a yearly visit!

Park City

My parents usually come stay in Park City in September/October and we like to join them for a day or two! This year we just came up for the day. It was a beautiful fall day! While Benj and Dad went golfing, my mom and I took the kids on a walk by the old white barn. This little hike has become a bit of a tradition every year for the past 4 years.

We happened to catch the scarecrow walk this year. It was fun to see all the submissions (probably about 25-30 of them).

Like I said, it was gorgeous day! This is why fall is my favorite season!

Love how these two are squeezing in together.

Definitely a favorite!

My favorite part of the hike.

Exploring

This kid discovered the joy of fruit snacks. Can you spot big brother?

Hopefully we can plan a longer visit next year. I love Park City!
