The Blustery Day

Benj and Logan went to our ward breakfast this morning. Norah is sleeping and I actually have some alone time! Very rare these days.
I have a lot of pictures to share with you, but I wanted to blog about the amazing wind storm that hit us on Wednesday night.
This is our house the next morning. There were shingles everywhere in the yard.

I was actually up with Norah when the power went off, right around 6 am. The house was so eery - all you could hear was the wind howling and random banging. I used the light from Norah's clock to go back down the stairs and took her back in the bed with me. Logan was still sleeping soundly and eventually joined us in the bed around 8. It was at this point that I knew I couldn't keep these young kids in a house with no power or heat. We called Benj's sister, who live in North Salt Lake, and they had power. So Benj followed us for a while in his car and then drove to work.

I was absolutely shocked at the amount of destruction in Centerville and Bountiful. Huge pine trees were completely uprooted. Some had fallen over on people's houses or cars. Crews were everywhere working on broken power lines. It was a mess.

These pictures were taken around our yard.

How thankful we are for family who live close. My kids and I were able to enjoy the day in a nice, warm house. They were ready and willing to even let us spend the night! We received a call around 7 pm from Rocky Mountain Power that our power was on and we were able to come back to a warm house.
I will never take heat for granted again. It made me realize how ill-prepared we were too. I hope everyone around us is ok.
