Logan loves his uncle and aunt

Logan used some of his time to master the game of checkers.

He would stack and unstack them over and over.

I would ask him where the horsey was, and he'd walk right over to the knight piece and neigh. Such a smart boy.

Did you know the famous white barn is a historical site? There is a great paved path that walks right through it. It was the perfect little walk for Logan.

Grandma and Logan

Logan discovered how fun it was to push the stroller instead of be in it. He didn't want any help either. Dad made sure he didn't veer off the path.

Logan also discovered his shadow. He'd jump and dance and laugh at himself. It was so cute.

We also loved swimming, playing games, shopping at the outlets, and enjoying Mom and Dad's delicious cooking. Oh, and eating fresh peaches for breakfast every morning.

Celebrating Fall

Park City never disappoints. The leaves have started to change, the weather was perfect, and we were in great company. Here is a sneak peak. More pictures to come soon!

FALL is Here!

Fall is here - well not officially til the 23rd, but it definately feels like fall. It gets darker earlier, its cooler, football and school are in full swing. I LOVE this time of year. Its my favorite! I made a summer bucket list so I thought I'd make one for this season too. *Disclaimer: will probably be added on with more ideas as they come to me. :)FALL BUCKET LIST

1-Put up fall decor (working on it now)

2-Make fall table runner

3-Do "Fall" Cleaning

4-Take a fall-color drive every Sunday and watch for the leaves to change

5-Rake and jump in the leaves with Logan :)

6-Make pumpkin chocolate chip bread or cookies

7-Attend a football game

8-Go to Gardner Village

9-Pick out a pumpkin at a pumpkin patch

10-Take family pictures

11-Take pictures of the fall foliage

What are YOUR plans for fall?

This picture was taken on the 5th, when Logan was still a little sick. He's doing so much better now. Thank you so much for your love and concern. We really are blessed that it was something that came and went so quickly. Hopefully it stays away for good. Logan is back to his fun, active self.

Nebulizers and Otter Pops

This little guy is not feeling well . . . at all. It is the sickest I've ever seen him. What started out as a runny nose a couple days ago has now escalated to nebulizers and steriods.

Yesterday, Logan's cold got more severe. He was coughing all the time, he had a fever, runny nose, chills, and he wasn't drinking or eating anything. The scariest symptom for me was listening to him breathe. Short, shallow breaths and wheezing. It got progressively worse as the day went on. By the time Benj got home I really wanted to take him to the doctor. Since our office was closed, we went to an InstaCare. I'm so glad we did!

The doctor immediately started asking questions about respiratory problems, asthma, etc. There is no family history of it. She watched with a concerned look as Logan breathed. Its like he couldn't catch his breath, and his heart rate escalated because of it. They used a nebulizer (mask pictured below) with medication to open up his lungs. He did not like it AT ALL. It took me, Benj, and the nurse to hold him still for 15 minutes. Longest 15 minutes ever. However, it did help him to breath better, and he calmed down a little.

After that treatment they wanted to do a chest x-ray to check for infection, asthma symptoms, etc). Below is an example of an infant about Logan's age doing a chest xray. Only imagine a very sad, crying kid in there. This is where I pretty much lost it. It was SO SAD to watch. The xray showed there was no infection (which was good) but also part of the lungs were deflated (asthmatic indication). Logan was treated for viral-induced asthma.

The nurse had an otter pop waiting for Logan when we came back to the room. He loved it, and ended up eating 3 of them. He deserved a whole freezer full for what he'd been through. We stayed there for 2 1/2 hours. He did another round of the nebulizer (went a little better) and got a dose of steriods and tylenol. We got a nebulizer machine of our very own and were instructed to use it every 4 hours, including at night. Logan was so exhausted that he mostly slept through the treatments. Poor guy.

We went to our pediatrician this morning. She also believes the asthma is being triggered by a virus. Hopefully meaning that it'll go away once his cold is better. The bad news is that any cold may trigger another episode. She said they usually don't diagnose childhood asthma unless there has been 3 or more episodes by age 5. We'll keep our fingers crossed.



We'll be taking it easy the next few days. There will be a lot of Baby Einstein, sleep, Pedialyte, nebulizers, and of course Otter Pops.

Dog Days of Summer

Wow, it is just me or has summer flown by? I think I have this little guy to thank for making this the most pleasant summer ever. We spent more days on walks, at parks, swimming, eating popcicles, and exploring than I can ever remember EVER. We didn't go on any huge trips or spend tons of money on entertainment, but that is more than ok with me (and Daddy's wallet). Thanks Logan for letting Mommy feel like a kid again. I know it'll only get better from here.

This morning we walked around our "yard" by our apartment. I watched Logan walk around and around, touching and exploring everything. I love how curious he is (well, as long as its safe). We walked along barefoot in the grass. I was trying to take pictures but he wouldn't hold still for more than two seconds. He made me laugh out loud when I made him lay down in the grass and he would GIGGLE feeling the grass on his head. I loved it when he'd show me every stick or leaf he picked up. Its funny how much more aware you are of things when you have a child. We enjoyed the sunshine, fresh air, and the wonderful shade from our big walnut trees.

Thanksgiving Point

For play group this week, we went to Thanksgiving Point. They have a great little farm and dinosaur museum for kids. I wish I'd gotten a group photo! Logan spent most of the day with his cute little friend Callie.

The only picture of the 2 of them somewhat looking at the camera, and it turned out a little blurry! I should have pulled my camera out more!

The animals were very friendly and let all the children pet them. Logan is fearless.

We went on a little wagon ride around the farm and ate lunch and free ice cream at their little deli (it was SO good). Afterward we went over to the museum. By this point the kiddos were ready for nap time so we went through it pretty fast. The only pictures I got were down below (playing with colors). When we go again we'll be sure to spend more time in the museum. It was really cool!

Cuts for Cami

On July 10, 2010, 4-year-old Camryn Carver was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic leukemia. She is a spirited, sweet and amazing girl who has inspired many.

Cami will soon be losing her hair due to Chemotherapy. We want to show her we support her and love her by cutting our hair too!
